Why replace your timing / cambelt
Your timing belt synchronizes the engine’s crankshaft and camshaft/s to keep the pistons and the valve train moving in unison. The timing belt is hidden beneath a cover/s underneath all the other belt-driven appliances on the front of the engine. Because it’s so inaccessible and there are no reliable visible indicators of wear, it has to be changed on a manufacturer-recommended mileage or time interval.
If the belt does fail, have you considered the consequences? If the engine is an INTERFERENCE type then considerable expensive damage may well be the result.
Most timing belt or water pump failures will cause engine damage, but not all. Please call reception for information on your vehicles engine
The cost of replacing a belt as part of a routine service could be as little as 5 to 10% of the repair cost following a belt failure. Make sure your customer is aware of the consequences.
If in doubt about the condition of the belt - RENEW it.
At kent Volkswagen we also advise the water pump is replaced at the same time if it is driven by the timing belt ( this could save repeating the work at a latter date)
